When I first started painting I did a
self-portrait every year on my birthday,
and in recent years I've renewed the
tradition. It serves as a sort of
stock-taking, along with new year's
resolutions. This watercolor was done
in 2010, and captures something of my
appreance and mood, I believe. I
recommend the discpline of
self-portrature for any artist. We all like
to be remembered through our work,
and what better way to challenge the
honesty of our efforts.
