Gilbert Stuart Mill
watercolor  16x20" matted and framed

This is my interpretation of a landmark
in Rhode Island, the birthplace and
boyhood home of the American 18th
century painter Gilbert Stuart. He's
known most famously for his portrait of
George Washington. Besides this mill
house, a lovely red colonial home also
still exists, with a mill pond behind, and
surrounding woods--all offering a
painter grist for his or her own artistic
mill. Pardon the pun.
